Tastes of Hippies

If you like smoothies from Smoothie King, then move along. This smoothie is not for you. If you like smoothies that pack about a month's worth of antioxidants and taste of hippies, well, then read on my friends.

I have been obsessed with this guy for about a month and a half now. I make at least one huge batch every week and then drink some every day. Our blender is now in constant use. Luckily, this is one of those guilt-free obsessions since my recipe is uber-healthy.

Recipe:

1 raw beet sliced
1 raw carrot sliced
handful of frozen blueberries
handful of frozen strawberries
1 ripe banana
1 can of chunk pineapple (in juice)
1/2 container of silken tofu

Blend the heck out of it and enjoy.

Also, don't spill it on anything. It's pretty much a stain factory.

Rice Krispie Treat

...but not the kind you are thinking of. My most recent food monomania has been Rice Krispies with sliced nectarines for breakfast. Like every day.

These have even eclipsed my love of fat-laden weekend breakfasts such as biscuits and gravy. "No thanks, dear. I'll just have Rice Krispies... AGAIN." I am on my second family sized box and still going strong.

The Oatmeal Cream Pie that Started it All

The first time I remember being a food monomaniac it was the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie. Something about the crinkle of the plastic wrappers, the moist chewy cookie, the fluffy snow white icing... I had to have them. Like, for every single meal.

Because I had intelligent and loving parents, I was not allowed to eat them for every single meal. But suffice to to say that my mom basically couldn't buy them as fast as I could eat them.

You might think that I would grow out of this culinary monomania--this desire to obsessively eat exclusively one food. At least until I tire of it. You would be wrong. This eating habit has carried on through my childhood and adolescence into my adult life.

So, follow me as I become periodically, unexplainably obsessed with one food after another.
